Inspector Lewis is a British crime drama that debuted in 2006 as a spin-off of the acclaimed Inspector Morse series. Kevin Whately reprises his role as Detective Robert Lewis, who returns to Oxford five years after Morse’s death. Alongside his new partner, the intelligent and composed DS James Hathaway (Laurence Fox), Lewis investigates murders while navigating personal challenges and proving himself to a skeptical superior. The series, created by Colin Dexter and developed by Russell Lewis, combines procedural mystery with character-driven storytelling that originally aired on PBS.
