Amelia is a 2009 biographical drama directed by Mira Nair and starring Hilary Swank as the legendary aviator Amelia Earhart. The film chronicles the pioneering pilot’s remarkable career, from her 1928 transatlantic crossing as a passenger to her groundbreaking 1932 solo flight across the Atlantic. It also explores her personal life, including her marriage to publisher George Putnam and her relationship with writer Gene Vidal, while building toward the fateful 1937 around-the-world flight that ended in her mysterious disappearance over the Pacific Ocean near Howland Island, alongside engineer Fred Noonan.
