Waiting is a 2005 comedy directed by Rob McKittrick that follows the staff at Shenanigan’s restaurant as they navigate the chaos of a single shift. Dean, a waiter since high school, finds himself questioning his future when he learns a former classmate has moved on to a lucrative career, while his friend Monty remains unbothered by their dead-end situation. When shy new employee Mitch arrives for training under Monty, he encounters the full spectrum of the restaurant’s colorful personalities, including Serena, an ex-girlfriend with a sharp tongue, Dan the overzealous manager, and Raddimus the head cook who’s deeply invested in a bizarre staff competition. The ensemble cast, featuring Dane Cook, Anna Faris, Chi McBride, and others, brings workplace humor and romantic tension to this portrait of people waiting for their lives to truly begin.
