V for Vendetta is a 2005 action thriller directed by James McTeigue from a screenplay by the Wachowskis and David Lloyd. Set in a dystopian future where Britain has fallen under fascist rule, the film follows a mysterious masked vigilante known only as V, played by Hugo Weaving, who launches a violent campaign against the totalitarian regime. When V rescues a young woman named Evey, portrayed by Natalie Portman, from the secret police, he draws her into his dangerous mission to dismantle the oppressive government and free the nation from authoritarian control. The ensemble cast also includes John Hurt, John Standing, Ben Miles, and Natasha Wightman.
