Clint Eastwood directs and stars in this 1977 action thriller as a Phoenix police officer tasked with escorting a witness from Las Vegas to trial. The witness, a prostitute with connections to organized crime and crucial testimony, becomes the target of a widespread criminal plot. What begins as a routine assignment turns into a perilous cross-country journey when Eastwood’s character discovers he has been set up by his own department. Sondra Locke co-stars as the sharp-witted witness, and the two leads share a tough, playful dynamic throughout their dangerous mission.

This is a single-disc DVD release from Warner Bros., presented in widescreen format with a runtime of 109 minutes and an R rating. Eastwood’s direction emphasizes action over restraint, with numerous vehicles and structures taking heavy gunfire as the cop and witness fight to survive. A used copy gives you a chance to experience this lean, propulsive thriller at a fraction of the original retail cost.
