Antonín Dvořák composed The Seasons as a set of four symphonic poems that musically capture the character and mood of each time of year. His Violin Concerto stands as a showcase for the composer’s gift for lyrical writing across the string family. This 1988 recording pairs both works with conductor Neeme Jarvi leading the orchestra through these Romantic-era masterpieces.
Released on the Chandos label, this CD contains the complete performances of both compositions. Jarvi brings energy and sweep to the music, drawing out the dramatic moments while maintaining clarity in Dvořák’s orchestration.
