Music and Lyrics is a 2007 romantic comedy directed by Marc Lawrence and starring Hugh Grant as Alex Fletcher, a former 1980s pop star now performing at county fairs and amusement parks. When current pop sensation Cora Corman offers him the chance to co-write and record a duet with her, Alex sees an opportunity for a real comeback. The catch is that he hasn’t written a song in years and has only days to produce a hit. He turns to Sophie Fisher, an eccentric plant expert with a gift for lyrics, who is nursing wounds from a recent breakup. As the two collaborate, they must overcome their own creative blocks and personal fears to create something meaningful together.
