Gray Lady Down is a 1978 action-thriller directed by David Greene about the USS Neptune, a nuclear submarine that collides with a Norwegian freighter and sinks to the ocean floor off Connecticut. Trapped 1,450 feet underwater on an unstable ledge, Captain Paul Blanchard (Charlton Heston) and his crew face a desperate situation as oxygen dwindles. Their only chance for survival rests with an experimental submersible piloted by two Navy officers (Stacy Keach and Ned Beatty), setting off a tense race against time. The ensemble cast also includes Christopher Reeve, David Carradine, and Ronny Cox.
