Globe Trekker: Russia is a documentary travel series from 2002 featuring host Ian Wright as he explores the world’s largest country across its eleven time zones. Directed by Angela Gourley, Anne Bogart, and Dominic Allan, the episode follows Wright’s journey through Russia’s most iconic destinations, beginning in Moscow at the seat of Russian government, the Kremlin. From there, he travels by train to the historic city of St. Petersburg, known for its Venice-like canals along the Neva River, before heading to the Arctic Circle and the port city of Murmansk. Along the way, Wright visits remarkable landmarks including the Winter Palace and the Hermitage museum, explores Moscow’s impressive metro system, shops at the Izmayloysky Sunday Market for Russian souvenirs, tours Star City home of the Russian space program, and experiences the Festival of the North celebrations in Murmansk marking the end of winter.
