George Gently Series 2 is a British crime drama that aired in 2009, based on Alan Hunter’s detective novels. Martin Shaw stars as Chief Inspector George Gently, a principled Scotland Yard detective who investigates murders across the North East of England during the 1960s. He partners with an ambitious young officer, played by Lee Ingleby, as the two navigate cases against a backdrop of social upheaval and institutional corruption. Directed by Ciaran Donnelly, Daniel O’Hara, and Euros Lynn, with writing by Alan Hunter, Mick Ford, and Peter Flannery, the series combines procedural mystery with period drama.
