Left for Dead is a 2002 documentary directed by Mark Bussler that chronicles the life of Oscar Jackson, a Union officer who left his law studies to raise and command a company of Ohio soldiers during the American Civil War. Jackson participated in some of the war’s most brutal engagements, including the Battle of Corinth, where a musket ball struck him in the face. Despite being left for dead from wounds that would have killed most men, Jackson survived and continued leading his company through the remainder of the conflict. After the war, he went on to serve as a U.S. Congressman, proving his resilience extended far beyond the battlefield.

This single-disc DVD from Inecom runs 50 minutes and presents the documentary with period music, maps, and sound design that bring Jackson’s story to life. Special features include a 25-minute making-of documentary with interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, outtakes, and a storyboard featurette with commentary from director Mark Bussler and storyboard artist.
