The Wind Journeys

Movie / Show Details

Colombian director Ciro Guerra’s 2009 drama follows Ignacio Carrillo, a vallenato musician grappling with profound grief after his wife’s death. Rather than continue playing his accordion, an instrument steeped in legend and loss, Ignacio sets out across northern Colombia on a final journey to return it to its original owner. Along the way, he encounters Fermin, a determined teenage boy who becomes his unlikely companion and aspiring apprentice. As the two travel through the diverse musical landscape of the Colombian Caribbean, Ignacio must confront his isolation and the pull of his musical heritage, even as he attempts to shield Fermin from the solitary life he has endured.
