Robert Wise directed this 1965 musical drama starring Julie Andrews as Maria, a spirited young postulant who leaves her convent to serve as governess to the seven children of Captain von Trapp, a stern widowed naval officer. Set in pre-World War II Austria, the film follows Maria’s journey as she brings music, warmth, and joy into the captain’s austere household, ultimately transforming the lives of everyone around her. Christopher Plummer plays the captain opposite Andrews, with Charmian Carr, Angela Cartwright, and other cast members rounding out the von Trapp family. The screenplay by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse adapts the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein musical.

This two-disc DVD edition runs two hours and fifty-four minutes and carries a US Approved rating. Released by Twentieth Century Fox, it features the iconic songs that have made this film a beloved family favorite for generations. Own this cherished musical on physical media at a used price.
