Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II composed the music for this 1965 film starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. The story follows a young woman who leaves her convent life to become a governess for a large family in Austria, where she brings music and joy into their home. Conductor Irwin Kostal arranged and led the orchestra, capturing the warmth and emotional depth of the score while the vocal performances shine with the vitality characteristic of classic film musicals.

This is a CD reissue from 1995 marking the 30th anniversary of the original soundtrack recording. The album features the iconic songs from the film, including “The Sound of Music,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” and “Maria,” along with instrumental pieces like the Prelude and Overture. At just under an hour of music, this used copy lets you own a piece of cinema history at a fraction of the cost of a new release.
