Haydn’s The Seven Last Words of Christ, released in 1993, is a profound orchestral work structured around seven sonatas, each corresponding to one of Christ’s final utterances on the cross. The Academy of St Martin in the Fields, conducted by Neville Marriner, performs this deeply spiritual composition with reverence and emotional depth, transforming Haydn’s meditation on suffering and redemption into a moving musical experience.

This CD contains the complete work across seven sonatas plus an introductory movement, with a total runtime of approximately 45 minutes. The Academy of St Martin in the Fields’ interpretation captures both the grandeur and intimacy of Haydn’s score, making it an essential recording for classical music collectors. Own this used copy and experience masterful baroque-era composition at a fraction of retail cost.
