CD Details
Ralph Vaughan-Williams composed some of England’s most beloved orchestral works, and this 1999 recording features the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields under conductors Adrian Boult and Neville Marriner performing a comprehensive survey of his music. The program includes the famous Fantasia on Greensleeves, the English Folk Song Suite with its three contrasting movements, the Oboe Concerto, and the Concerto Grosso, alongside the Romance for harmonica, strings and piano and the soaring violin showpiece The Lark Ascending.
This two-disc CD set presents additional works including Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus, Norfolk Rhapsody No.1, In the Fen Country, and the Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis. Sourced from the Decca label, this used copy lets you explore Vaughan-Williams’ rich catalog of English pastoral and folk-inspired compositions at a fraction of retail cost.
