Johnny Depp stars as Paul Kemp, a struggling journalist who arrives in 1950s Puerto Rico seeking reinvention and escape from his past. Based on Hunter S. Thompson’s semi-autobiographical novel and directed by Bruce Robinson, the film follows Kemp’s chaotic adventures as he navigates island life alongside eccentric newspaper colleagues, including a cynical editor and unhinged reporters. When a smooth-talking businessman offers him lucrative work promoting real estate development, Kemp finds himself torn between financial desperation and his political conscience, further complicated by his attraction to the businessman’s fiancée.

This is a single-disc DVD release from FilmDistrict, running 1 hour and 59 minutes and rated R. The comedy-drama features an ensemble cast including Aaron Eckhart, Amber Heard, Giovanni Ribisi, Michael Rispoli, and Richard Jenkins. You can own this used copy for a fraction of retail cost.
