The Promise is a 2006 film score composed by Klaus Badelt. The soundtrack accompanies a story set in an ancient Asian world where four central characters-a princess, a slave, a general, and a duke-navigate questions of fate and free will. Their lives become intertwined through powerful emotions including ambition, loyalty, revenge, and love, all shaped by promises and contracts made in their pasts. The narrative explores whether destiny is predetermined or whether individuals can alter their own futures through their choices and actions.

This is a single-disc CD release featuring Badelt’s orchestral compositions for the film. The score includes the main theme “Wuji,” character themes like “Qingcheng, The Princess” and “Guangming, The General,” and emotional pieces such as “Love Theme” and “The Promise.” Tracks range from brief character motifs to longer thematic pieces, creating a sweeping classical soundtrack that underscores the film’s exploration of fate and human agency.
