Mel Gibson directed this 2004 drama that chronicles the final twelve hours of Jesus Christ’s life with unflinching intensity. Shot primarily in Aramaic and Latin, the film begins in the Garden of Olives as Jesus prays following the Last Supper. After Judas betrays him, Jesus is arrested and brought before the leaders of Jerusalem, where his trial culminates in a sentence of death. The cast includes Hristo Shopov, Claudia Gerini, and Fabio Sartor.
