The Great Courses presents Lost Christianities, a 2002 educational series taught by scholar Bart D. Ehrman Ph.D. that examines the early Christian texts and theological conflicts that shaped the religion’s development. Over twelve hours of lectures, Ehrman explores the gospels and writings considered authoritative by various Christian sects, including the Ebionites, Marcionites, and Gnostics, and investigates why certain scriptures were excluded from the Bible while others were preserved.

This single-disc DVD set contains the complete lecture series from The Great Courses. Discover the lost and apocryphal texts that reveal how early Christian communities understood their faith differently, and learn why many of the religion’s earliest struggles were between competing Christian groups rather than against outside nonbelievers. Get this comprehensive educational collection at a fraction of the original retail price.
