The Good, The Bad & The Queen

CD Details

The Good, the Bad & the Queen is a 2007 indie rock album by the supergroup of the same name, featuring Damon Albarn of Blur and Gorillaz alongside Paul Simonon from The Clash, Tony Allen from Fela Kuti, and Simon Tong of The Verve. The album draws from diverse musical traditions, blending English music hall, West African Afrobeat, Caribbean reggae and dub, and London punk into a cohesive sound that stands apart from each member’s previous work. Rather than showcase raw power, the band opts for a restrained, atmospheric approach built on elastic bass lines and layered drums, with Albarn’s deliberate vocals anchoring tracks that unfold with careful precision.

Released on Parlophone, this CD contains ten tracks including “History Song,” “80’s Life,” “Kingdom of Doom,” “Herculean,” “Behind The Sun,” “The Bunting Song,” “Nature Springs,” “A Soldier’s Tale,” and “Three Changes.” The album runs approximately 34 minutes and captures a distinctive sonic world that refuses easy categorization.
