The Four Seasons

CD Details

Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons is a set of four Baroque violin concertos that musically represent the four times of year. Composed in the early 18th century, each concerto depicts a different season through its key and melodic character: Spring in E major, Summer in G minor, Autumn in F major, and Winter in F minor. This Deutsche Grammophon recording features the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra with four distinguished soloists, each performing one concerto. Itzhak Perlman, Pinchas Zukerman, Isaac Stern, and Shlomo Mintz each bring their own interpretive approach to the work, creating an engaging comparison of styles across the four movements.

This CD captures a live performance recorded at the Huberman Festival in Israel in 1982. The recording is well-balanced and atmospheric, showcasing not only the four featured violinists but also the exceptional playing of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra’s ensemble.
