The Captive is a 1915 silent drama directed by Cecil B. DeMille, based on a play by Jeanie Macpherson. Set during the Balkan Wars, the film follows Sonia, a young woman in Montenegro who must care for her family farm and younger brother after her older brother is killed in battle. When a captured Turkish nobleman named Mahmud Hassan is assigned to help her, their relationship transforms from cold distance into love as they navigate the hardships of wartime together.

This is a single-disc DVD release from Paramount Pictures with a runtime of 97 minutes and a PG-13 rating. The film stars Blanche Sweet as Sonia, House Peters as Mahmud Hassan, and features a newly composed musical score by Lucy Duke. Owning this rediscovered piece of cinema history costs far less than a new copy.
