Swing Time is a 1936 musical comedy directed by George Stevens and starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. John “Lucky” Garnett is engaged to marry Margaret Watson back home, but his vaudeville friends trick him into missing the wedding by exploiting his love of gambling. Margaret demands he earn $25,000 to prove himself worthy of a second chance. Lucky travels to New York to make his fortune, where he meets dance instructor Penny Carroll. The two form a partnership and develop romantic feelings, but both are already promised to others. The film follows their attempts to navigate their entanglements while showcasing elaborate dance numbers and comedic situations, with Victor Moore providing additional support.
