Soul Men is a 2008 comedy-drama directed by Malcolm D. Lee about two estranged former backup singers from the soul group The Real Deal who reunite after two decades to perform at a tribute concert for their deceased lead singer at the Apollo Theater in New York. Louis Hinds and Floyd Henderson, played by Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac respectively, embark on a cross-country road trip from Los Angeles, performing hastily arranged gigs along the way while their contentious dynamic drives much of the film’s humor. The cast also includes Sean Hayes, Jennifer Coolidge, and Isaac Hayes.
