Soapdish is a 1991 comedy directed by Michael Hoffman that takes a satirical look at the world of daytime television. Carrie Fisher stars as Celeste Talbert, the lead actress of a struggling soap opera whose career and personal life spiral into chaos when her scheming rivals orchestrate the return of her ex-lover (Kevin Kline) and recruit her young niece to the show. With a supporting cast including Cathy Moriarty, Elisabeth Shue, Robert Downey Jr., and Gary Marshall, the film mines humor from the outrageous behind-the-scenes drama that rivals anything that happens on camera.

This single-disc DVD release from Paramount Pictures runs 97 minutes and carries a PG-13 rating. The widescreen transfer includes English Dolby Digital 5.1 and stereo audio options along with English subtitles. Grab this used copy and enjoy a sharp comedy about the absurdities of soap opera production.
