Simpatico is a 1999 crime drama written by Sam Shepard and directed by British theater director Matthew Warchus in his film debut. Jeff Bridges plays Lyle, a successful Kentucky horse breeder whose carefully constructed life is upended when his former partner Vinnie, played by Nick Nolte, resurfaces with blackmail threats about a secret from their past. When Lyle travels west to meet Vinnie, the two men’s lives become entangled in unexpected ways, with their identities and circumstances shifting as their old sins catch up with them. The film also features Albert Finney, Catherine Keener, and Sharon Stone.

This single-disc DVD release runs 86 minutes and carries an R rating from Fine Line Features. The film employs crosscutting between the present-day storylines and flashbacks to the characters’ youth, creating a fragmented narrative structure. You can own this used copy of a lesser-known entry in the crime-drama genre without the cost of a new release.
