Sharky’s Machine is a 1981 crime thriller directed by and starring Burt Reynolds as an Atlanta vice cop who gets demoted but uses his new assignment to pursue a personal vendetta. When he falls for a woman connected to a powerful crime boss played by Vittorio Gassman, Reynolds’s character finds himself drawn into a dangerous conspiracy involving local corruption. Brian Keith and Gerald Di Pego also contributed to this adaptation of William Diehl’s novel, which marked a departure from Reynolds’s earlier action-comedy roles.

This single-disc DVD release runs 122 minutes and carries an R rating from Orion Pictures. The film features a climactic shootout that reflects the grittier crime thrillers of its era, presenting a no-nonsense approach to its sordid subject matter. Grab this used copy and experience one of Reynolds’s more unconventional and serious dramatic efforts.
