Wes Anderson directed this 1998 comedy-drama about Max Fischer, a 15-year-old scholarship student at the prestigious Rushmore Academy who excels in extracurricular activities while failing his classes. Brimming with confidence and charm, Max forms an unlikely friendship with Herman Blume, a wealthy industrialist and school alumnus played by Bill Murray, and develops a crush on his first-grade teacher, Rosemary Cross, portrayed by Olivia Williams. When Max is expelled from school and Blume begins pursuing Miss Cross himself, the two men become rivals, leading to romantic complications and personal conflict.
