This 1978 Thames Television collection brings together three British period dramas exploring romance across different eras of English history. Pride and Prejudice transports viewers to Georgian England, where Elizabeth Bennet’s spirited exchanges with the proud Mr. Darcy test whether love can overcome first impressions. Victoria and Albert follows the young queen as she discovers her strength as a leader while forming an unexpected bond with Prince Albert, defying her earlier vow never to marry. Edward and Mrs. Simpson dramatizes the true story of the Prince of Wales and American divorcée Wallis Simpson, whose controversial romance ultimately forced a choice between love and the throne.

Released on a single DVD by Thames Television, this collection runs seven hours total and carries an IMDb rating of 7.5. Directed by Waris Hussein with writing from Andrew Brown, Frances Donaldson, and Simon Raven, the set features Cynthia Harris, David Waller, and Edward Fox among its cast. Owning this used copy lets you experience three landmark adaptations without the new price tag.
