Opium is a two-disc album by German-born guitarist Ottmar Liebert and his ensemble Luna Negra, released in 1996. Spanning over 125 minutes, the project showcases Liebert’s distinctive blend of flamenco-influenced acoustic guitar with broader sonic experimentation. The first disc, Wide-Eyed, presents his elegantly vibrant approach to the instrument, while the second disc, Dreaming, ventures into atmospheric and exploratory territory that pushes beyond traditional guitar music into global and electronic textures.

This two-CD set was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best New Age Recording in 1997 and includes accompanying text and photographs. Standout tracks like Nuevo México and Alegria Árabe demonstrate Liebert’s range, with moments of electric guitar integration adding depth to the acoustic foundation.
