Harry Connick, Jr. recorded Oh, My Nola as a tribute to his New Orleans hometown, drawing on the city’s rich musical heritage. Following his Broadway appearance in The Pajama Game, Connick returned to his roots with this loosely swinging album that blends well-chosen covers with original compositions. The collection traces New Orleans’ influential legacy through funky renditions like “Working in the Coal Mine” and unexpected interpretations of standards, while Connick’s own songs add personal reflection, including “All These People,” a mid-tempo piece about Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath featuring gospel artist Kim Burrell.

This CD features nine tracks spanning jazz, funk, and traditional New Orleans styles, with selections ranging from Allen Toussaint classics to reimagined standards. Connick’s effortless approach to both covers and originals makes this one of his strongest efforts, capturing the spirit and resilience of the city he celebrates. Add this used copy to your collection and experience the sounds of the Big Easy at a fraction of retail cost.
