My Walking Stick is a blues and rock album released in 2009 by Chris Gestrin, Fred Wise, and George Washington Phillips. This follow-up to the acclaimed House of Refuge pairs the artists with gospel trio The Sojourners and producer Steve Dawson to explore gritty 1960s R&B-influenced material. Drawing from St. Louis roots and the sounds of Chuck Berry, Ike and Tina Turner, Ray Charles, and Muddy Waters, the album showcases soulful interpretations of classic blues standards and original compositions. The standout track “Drown In My Own Tears,” a Ray Charles cover, highlights one of the most powerful vocal performances on the record.
