Vincente Minnelli directed this 1944 musical drama from MGM about the Smith family, a well-to-do household in St. Louis during 1903. The film follows the family through a transformative year as they anticipate the upcoming 1904 World’s Fair. Judy Garland stars as Esther, the seventeen-year-old eldest daughter who has developed feelings for John, the charming boy who recently moved in next door, though he initially seems oblivious to her affection. When her father announces a job transfer to New York, the family faces an unexpected upheaval that threatens to separate them from their home and the excitement of the fair.

This two-disc DVD edition runs 93 minutes and carries an Approved rating from MGM. The cast includes Joan Carroll, June Lockhart, Harry Davenport, and Hugh Marlowe alongside Garland, with a screenplay by Fred F. Finklehoffe, Irving Brecher, and Sally Benson. A beloved Hollywood musical romance featuring some of cinema’s most memorable songs, this used copy offers you the chance to own a classic at a fraction of retail cost.
