Master and Commander is a 2003 naval action-adventure film directed by Peter Weir and based on Patrick O’Brian’s novels. Russell Crowe stars as a British Royal Navy captain who, after his ship sustains heavy damage in a sudden clash with a French warship, embarks on a relentless pursuit across two oceans. The film explores the weight of command during wartime through the perspectives of Crowe, James D’Arcy, Edward Woodall, and Chris Larkin.
