Love Me Tender is a 1956 Western musical drama directed by Robert D. Webb and starring Elvis Presley in his film debut. Set during the final days of the Civil War, the story follows Confederate soldiers who are ordered to rob a Union payroll train. When the war ends, they find themselves hunted by federal authorities while still in possession of the stolen money. Presley plays the younger brother of a returning Civil War soldier, taking on a supporting role that allows him to explore dramatic acting alongside his musical talents. The cast also includes Barry Coe, Bruce Bennett, Debra Paget, and James Drury.
