Timothy Dalton takes on the role of James Bond in this 1987 action thriller directed by John Glen. When Russian KGB General Koskov defects and reveals a Soviet plot to assassinate British secret agents, Bond is tasked with eliminating Koskov’s superior and uncovering the conspiracy behind the threat. Set during the Cold War thaw, the film also stars Jeroen Krabbé as the defecting general and Maryam d’Abo as a cellist caught in the middle of espionage and betrayal.
