In Search Of Ancient Ireland [DVD]

Movie / Show Details

In Search Of Ancient Ireland is a three-part documentary series from PBS that traces the island’s history spanning thousands of years, from around 2000 BC through the Norman invasion of 1167 AD. The program examines how Stone Age farmers constructed some of Europe’s most impressive Neolithic monuments, then follows the development of Celtic culture and the arrival of Christianity with its missionaries in the fifth century. Since written records were scarce for much of this era, the series draws on archaeological findings and Celtic myths preserved through oral tradition before being recorded by Christian monks centuries later.
