Holy Man is a 1998 comedy-drama from Disney directed by Stephen Herek and written by Tom Schulman. Eddie Murphy stars as G, an enigmatic spiritual figure whose unconventional wisdom captures national attention when he becomes the host of a television shopping network. Jeff Goldblum and Kelly Preston play the network’s producer and marketer, whose budding romance unfolds alongside G’s rise to fame. The film explores themes of love, loss, and redemption while offering social commentary on commercialism and its impact on spiritual fulfillment, featuring cameo appearances from various celebrity personalities.

This single-disc DVD release runs 94 minutes and carries a PG rating from Buena Vista Pictures Distribution. Murphy’s performance showcases his attempt to pursue more substantial dramatic roles, and the film balances comedy with pointed criticism of consumer culture, even as it occasionally delivers preachy messages about embracing life’s deeper values. Grab this used copy and experience a well-intentioned film that dares to challenge Hollywood’s commercial conventions.
