The premise of Fun Size is simple: teen girl, Wren (Victoria Justice), hung up on the cute boy at school, Aaron (Thomas McDonell), plans to go to his Halloween party to make him notice her. Last-minute request from jaundiced mom (Chelsea Handler): “Oh and can you watch Albert tonight? Bye!” So Wren and her pal April (Jane Levy) reluctantly take little brother Albert (Jackson Nicoll) in his tiny Spiderman costume out on a night every kid in town is running around in a costume. What could go wrong? Fun Size, a Nickelodeon film, has a PG-13 rating that it definitely earns. Teens and mature tweens, though, will enjoy the predictable pickles the girls, and guys, get themselves into as Wren and April try to both comb their town for little lost Albert while also never losing sight of the evening’s ultimate goal: to be noticed by Aaron. It’s not giving too much away to say that everyone escapes the escapades intact, though not without illustrating several different flavors of A Parent’s Worst Nightmare: Lost kid, lost kid getting caught up in committing a crime and possibly being kidnapped, teenagers taking a car ride with strangers–strangers who have no business being behind the wheel of anything… etc. The performances by Justice and Levy are winning despite their characters’ terrible judgment, and Handler and Nicoll appear to be having the time of their lives. Fun Size definitely delivers Halloween humor for savvy teens. –A.T. Hurley

Product Description

Fun Size is a teen comedy centered on a high school senior, Wren (Victoria Justice), who is eager to distance herself from her dysfunctional family by going off to college. Before that can happen, Wren’s mother Joy insists that she watch her little brother Albert on Halloween night so Joy can go to a rager with her much younger boyfriend. When Wren gets distracted by an invitation to the party of the year, Albert disappears into a sea of trick-or-treaters. Frantic to locate him before their mother discovers he’s missing, Wren enlists the help of her sarcastic best friend April as well as Peng, an aspiring ladies man and co-captain of the debate team, and Peng’s best friend, Roosevelt, a sweet nerd whose crush on Wren clouds his better judgment. This unlikely foursome embarks on a high-stakes, all-night adventure to find Albert, crossing paths with outrageous characters every step of the way.
