CD Details
Van Morrison’s 1990 album Enlightenment blends blues and folk rock into a deeply introspective work that explores spiritual yearning alongside human doubt. Opening with the energetic “Real Real Gone,” the record balances Morrison’s return to soulful R&B vigor with confessions of vulnerability and wavering faith. While the title track suggests enlightenment, it instead captures confusion and searching. The album finds lighter moments in the nostalgic “Youth of 1,000 Summers” and the expansive “In the Days Before Rock ‘n’ Roll,” where Morrison’s passionate delivery is joined by poet Paul Durcan, celebrating musical legends like Little Richard as cosmic figures worthy of reverence.
This is a CD release on the Mercury/Polydor label featuring ten tracks with a total runtime of approximately 45 minutes. Notable selections include “Avalon of the Heart,” “So Quiet In Here,” “See Me Through,” “Start All Over Again,” “She’s a Baby,” and “Memories.” Grab this used copy and experience Morrison’s spiritual questioning at a fraction of retail cost.
