When Groucho’s character Rufus T. Firefly is appointed dictator of the financially troubled nation of Freedonia, he promptly disrupts his own inauguration by arriving late and insulting dignitaries. Neighboring Sylvania responds by sending two spies to remove him from power, but instead of succeeding, their interference triggers a full-scale war between the two nations, complete with slapstick chaos and satirical political commentary.
