Dear John is a 2010 romance drama directed by Lasse Hallstrom and based on Nicholas Sparks’ novel. Channing Tatum stars as Sergeant John Tyree, a soldier who meets Savannah Curtis, an idealistic college student played by Amanda Seyfried, during shore leave. Their connection is immediate and powerful, but their relationship faces mounting challenges as John’s military deployments grow more dangerous. Over seven years, the couple maintains their bond primarily through letters, with only occasional in-person meetings. Their written correspondence, however, sets off unforeseen consequences that neither anticipated. The cast also includes Henry Thomas and Richard Jenkins.
