Brothers is a 2009 drama directed by Jim Sheridan and starring Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Natalie Portman. The film follows Marine Captain Sam Cahill, who is deployed to Afghanistan, leaving behind his wife Grace and two young daughters. Before his departure, Sam reconnects with his estranged brother Tommy, a recently released ex-convict trying to turn his life around. When Sam’s plane is shot down overseas and he is presumed dead, Tommy steps in to support Grace and the girls, and the two develop an emotional bond. Sam’s rescue and return home becomes complicated when his traumatic experiences abroad leave him struggling to readjust to civilian life, breeding jealousy and suspicion about his brother’s closeness to his wife.

This single-disc DVD release runs 105 minutes and carries an R rating for language and some violence. Lionsgate released the film, which also features Sam Shepard and Mare Winningham as the brothers’ father and stepmother. You can own this used copy at a fraction of what you would pay for new.
