Paul Verhoeven directs this 2006 Dutch war thriller set during the final stages of World War II in Nazi-occupied Netherlands. Carice van Houten stars as Rachel Stein, a Jewish singer who survives an Allied bombing by fleeing to The Hague, where she joins the Dutch resistance. Adopting a new identity as the blonde Ellis de Vries, Rachel infiltrates Gestapo headquarters on a dangerous mission. Her assignment takes an unexpected turn when she seduces Captain Müntze, played by Sebastian Koch, only to find herself genuinely falling for him. As their relationship deepens, the line between duty and desire blurs, putting both of them in grave peril. Verhoeven balances espionage and moral complexity with dark humor and unflinching intensity throughout.
