Blindness is a 2008 Brazilian drama thriller directed by Fernando Meirelles and based on José Saramago’s novel. When a mysterious plague of sudden blindness sweeps through a city, a doctor’s wife discovers she is the only person who can still see. To stay with her husband and protect him, she pretends to be afflicted as well. As the community descends into chaos and desperation, she and a small group of blind survivors must find ways to endure the horrific conditions of forced quarantine and the breakdown of society around them.
