Begin To Hope

CD Details

Begin To Hope is a 2011 album by Regina Spektor released on Sire Records that blends pop and blues with an anti-folk sensibility. Classically trained on piano, Spektor crafts songs that subvert the coffeehouse tradition through eccentricity and melodic surprise rather than confrontation. Her distinctive voice shifts from cracking and loopy on intimate tracks like “On The Radio” and “Field Below” to punchy and playful on others like “Hotel Song,” while understated instrumentation featuring twisty piano arpeggios and occasional electronic touches supports her vocals without overwhelming them. The album demonstrates sophisticated song structure that allows her to venture in unexpected directions without losing cohesion, creating a record that is both daring and consistently listenable.

This CD contains twelve tracks including the singles “Fidelity,” “Better,” and “Samson,” along with “Après Moi,” “20 Years Of Snow,” and seven additional songs. A used copy gives you access to Spektor’s intelligent and inventive songwriting at a fraction of the cost of a new release.
