Beauty and the Beast is a 1987 fantasy-crime drama series set in New York City. Created by Ron Koslow and written by Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon, the show follows Catherine Chandler, an assistant district attorney played by Emmy nominee Linda Hamilton, who is attacked and left for dead. She awakens in an underground sanctuary beneath the city, where a mysterious man-beast named Vincent, portrayed by Golden Globe winner Ron Perlman, has nursed her back to health. As Catherine recovers, she discovers Vincent is an empath with an uncanny ability to sense when she is in danger. Their bond transcends romance and friendship as they form an unlikely partnership, with Catherine secretly aiding Vincent’s underground community while he protects her from the threats of the city above.
