Andy Goldsworthy's Rivers & Tides

Movie / Show Details

Director Thomas Riedelsheimer’s 2001 documentary follows Scottish artist Andy Goldsworthy as he creates intricate sculptures from natural materials found in outdoor settings. Working with stones, ice, leaves, and other elements from the landscape, Goldsworthy constructs temporary installations that interact with their environments, often destined to be transformed or destroyed by weather and time. The film captures his artistic process across various locations, exploring his philosophy about the relationships between light, color, movement, and form in nature.

This single-disc DVD release from Roxie Releasing runs 90 minutes and carries a TV-G rating. Riedelsheimer’s cinematography presents Goldsworthy’s ephemeral works as visual poetry, from delicate ice formations in trees to towering stone structures that emerge from forests and shorelines.
