Alive is a 1993 drama directed by Frank Marshall that recounts the true story of a Uruguayan rugby team whose chartered plane crashed in the Andes in 1972. Stranded in brutal conditions with dwindling supplies, the survivors face impossible choices as they battle extreme cold and starvation. The film explores their physical struggle alongside the moral and spiritual questions they confront, while also examining themes of leadership and hope as team members find the courage to persevere against overwhelming odds. Vincent Spano and Ethan Hawke lead the cast in this compassionate treatment of one of history’s most remarkable survival stories.

This is a single-disc DVD release with a runtime of two hours and eight minutes, rated R, from Buena Vista Pictures Distribution. The film balances the harrowing nature of the survivors’ ordeal with dignity and emotional depth rather than sensationalism. Own this powerful true-life adventure on physical media at a used price.
